Zilpha — tarot & astrology
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Zilpha is a tarot and astrology app. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. We built Zilpha to be private by default: you do not create an account, and you do not give us your name, email, or phone number to use it.
An anonymous device identifier. The first time you open Zilpha, the app creates a random identifier (a string of characters) and stores it on your device. It is not linked to your real identity, your Apple ID, your email, or any advertising identifier. We use it only to recognise the same install across sessions so the app can count usage and, in the paid version, remember your readings.
Information you choose to enter. To personalise readings, you may enter your first name, your date of birth, and (for relationship readings) a partner's date of birth. Your full date of birth is stored on your device. When you request a reading, the app may send your first name, your sun sign, your partner's sun sign, your birth year, and any question or message you type, so that the reading can be generated.
Your readings and questions. The questions you ask and the cards you draw are used to produce the reading. Recent readings may be stored to provide continuity in the paid version.
Basic usage events. We log simple events (such as install, app open, and that a reading was generated), tied to the anonymous identifier, to understand how the app is used and to improve it.
Readings are written by an artificial-intelligence service. To produce a reading, the relevant details described in section 1 (for example your question, first name, sun sign, and the cards drawn) are sent to our processing provider, Anthropic, PBC (the makers of Claude), which generates the text and returns it to the app. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf and does not use it to train its models. Because Anthropic operates in the United States, this involves a transfer of data outside the European Economic Area, carried out under appropriate safeguards (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses).
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on:
If you buy a Zilpha subscription, the purchase, billing, renewal, and any free trial are managed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or store your card details. We receive only the anonymous information needed to confirm whether a subscription is active. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device's Settings › your Apple account › Subscriptions.
Information stored on your device remains until you delete it or remove the app. Information held on our servers (the anonymous identifier, the details you entered, usage events) is kept while you use Zilpha and is deleted on request, or within a reasonable period after prolonged inactivity.
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information linked to your identifier, to correct it, or to delete it. You may also object to or restrict certain processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority (in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens). The simplest way to erase everything held on your device is to delete the app; to erase server-side records, email us at support@zilpha.eu.
Zilpha is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will remove the related information.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep collection to a minimum precisely to reduce risk.
Zilpha is provided for guidance, reflection, and entertainment. Its readings are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice.
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
